    03/07/2018

The National Project Management Organization (Mashroat) provides a detailed presentation of its plans to achieve quality in public projects during a meeting that was organized by Asharqia Chamber on Sunday, 15 July 2018.

The meeting was attended by the Director General of the program, Engineer Ahmed bin Muttair Balawi, with business owners in the Eastern Province.

A member of the chamber's board of directors and chairman of the contracting committee, Hamad bin Hamoud al-Hammad, said that the meeting will discuss the framework of the 2018 contracting committee's plan and a number of topics including the definition of "Mashroat" program, ways of benefiting the construction sector, as well as listening to the contractors' observations and opinions.

Al-Hammad added that the Chamber's Contracting Committee is keen to develop the performance of contractors and raise the quality of their work to be consistent with the aspirations of the country as well as the society.

This is the reason behind establishing and paying more attention to the National Program and its activities by the Committee.

The Program was approved by the Council of Ministers in Resolution No. 485 of 2nd September 2015 with the aim of improving the efficiency and quality of projects through the application of best international practices.

The Committee look forward to taking advantage of this program, "which seeks to support our choices in applying quality in the projects we implement, as stipulated in the vision of the Kingdom of 2030."

Al Hammad added that the business sector in the Kingdom, especially investors in the field of construction, is working hard to achieve a double added value to the national economy by reaching projects implemented by national companies to a high level of quality and contribute to the development of our country.

So, these projects form opportunities for national SMEs and vocational opportunities for qualified Saudi youth as well.

Therefore, the issue of communication with all governmental and non-governmental bodies and the recruitment of all expertise in this regard is one of the vital issues of our current economic mobility.

In addition, he mentioned that the vision of the national program to support the management of projects in public bodies is to seek to be a world-class program that represents the engine to achieve public projects with the highest efficiency and effectiveness and to have a sustainable impact on economic and social development.

At the same time, it carries the following message, "Empowering project management offices in public bodies and developing a flexible environment for efficient project implementation and maximizing its benefits."

The program has identified a number of objectives such as improving the efficiency and quality of projects, establishing standards for the management offices of the program, applying the best international practices, and writing a standard model for project contracts to project management companies.

The program has entered a six-year evaluation phase and will be transferred to another party, as per the aforementioned decision of the Council of Ministers.

It is noteworthy that one of the most prominent projects of the program is (Institute of Mashroat), which was commissioned to develop competencies and capabilities that will improve the professional and technical skills and leadership through the implementation of programs "sharing and transferring knowledge."

The Institute includes sections for training in program management, research and development.
